Well, if you didn’t know it, today is National Dog Day, the day to celebrate all things dog, read the full story. There is a multitude of information on the Animal Miracle Network about this holiday, including educating children about caring for our planet and it’s animals.
There are a multitude of books out there to teach children about caring for dogs and puppies and just cute stories about children and their canine companions. Children just love to learn about and read about animals. One very cute story, that I have recently read and reviewed is I Want a Dog by Dayal Kaur Khalsa.
This is one book that you can use to talk to and teach your children about the responsibility that comes with having a family pet. Of course, this story shows the willingness to try and succeed through a young girl’s point of view. Before getting a real dog, May shows her parents that she can be a good dog owner, she can take care of her pet and she is old enough to be responsible.
Remember, a lot of time and effort goes into caring for pets. There are many resources out there to help aid in teaching children about these responsibilities. Books are a great way to connect and teach children lessons and challenges about every day life. Check out more info on books for dogs and books about dogs and puppies at amazon.com.
So get out there with your kids and dogs and enjoy National Dog Day!!
