Wacky Wednesday with Mother Goose

As we wrap up September story time here at The Story Carpet, we have yet another (new discovery by Miss Shari) Mother Goose book – Mother Goose Numbers on the Loose by Leo & Diane Dillon. This book is fantastic! I LOVE it and this one too, will be going on the Miss Shari’s Favorites.
This is one of those must haves. I wish I had it with my last group of “tots” – they loved number songs. “One, Two Buckle My Shoe” and “This Old Man” were two top faves in the number songs. However, Mother Goose will always make a comeback and should in each early learning environment. From 1 to (21), okay 12! This book is a fantastic piece for number, counting, quantity/number recognition and math skills – simple addition, vocabulary and word problems. For example: a “score and ten” is 20+10= 30. I didn’t know that (and I’m a year past a score and ten).
This is truly a must have for early learning centers, early child hood/ preschool classrooms and even the early primary grades (first, second or third grade). These foundations are important for building math skills in later grades as math gets more complex and challenging. These rhymes and number games will roll right along as the learning goes on!
Look out – its Mother Goose Numbers on the Loose by Leo & Diane Dillon.
